Our little Cooper finally decided to join us on the 4th of July! (which Steve predicted would happen) When July arrived I figured I could go into labor any day. But for some reason I thought I was going to go over his July 10th due date. Obviously, I was wrong since he unexpectedly came a week early. :-) So here's the labor and delivery story...
On Friday, July 3 I started to have minor cramps around dinner time and didn't think much of it. I asked my sister what contractions felt like and she described them as severe cramps. Since I hadn't had any pre-labor signs yet I figured they could just be little braxton hicks or something. But boy was I wrong!!! At 3:00 AM I woke up with severe cramp pain. I was having contractions! Progressively through the night they got worse and worse and closer and closer together. I'd wake up with pain for a few seconds than I'd go back to sleep only to be woken up by pain again 5 minutes later. It sucked! I spent the night walking around the house and going to the bathroom several times to try to bare with the pain. I didn't want to believe I was in labor so I let Steve go into work at 9:00 am Saturday. After he left I figured I outta take a shower and start packing our hospital bag just in case. (I luckily already had Cooper's bag and car seat ready) It was hard to take a shower because by this point I was in so much pain that I was in hysterical tears. After my shower, (at 9:30) I immediately texted Steve and asked him to come home and take me to the hospital. So Steve came home after only 30 minutes of working. On the way to the hospital I had 4 contractions within the 15 minutes.
We arrived at the hospital around 10:30. We were hoping it wasn't a false alarm, but I had dialated to 4 cm and was 100% effaced. Which came as a shock to me considering that two days before at my weekly check-up I was only dialted to 1 cm and 80% effaced. So they admitted me and I immediatly got an epidural. (which was awesome!) We then waited 6 hours for me to fully dialte. I started pushing at 5:00pm and Cooper arrived at 7:19pm. Pushing for two hours was very frustrating but well worth it and such a relief when Cooper finally pushed through.
He was 7 lbs 5 oz 20 1/2 inches with a full head of dark hair. Here's some pictures to illustrate the event...

and the blue ones are my contractions
It was the best being able to watch
the contractions and not feel them!
My wonderful sister stayed with us all day(as well as my mom and dad)
my mom had come over from the parade just after she ran the 5K
These are my cousins that waited the full 2 hours to see him.I think they had fun entertaining themselves. :-)
We did it!
Right after birth, Cooper had to be taken to the ICU to be put on oxygen because he wasn't breathing right. So a few of his visitors posed with me for pics since we all had to wait to see little Cooper. These are my cousins Courtney and Brittni
