GPC What?

After three years and a much needed visit to the eye doctor, I discovered I have Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC). Basically, I wore my left contact for too long (probably about 6 months) without replacing it and doing so irritated my eyelid. So the doctor banned me from wearing contacts until it clears up and I have to put $200 eye drops in my eye three times a day. Luckily, my insurance covered $150 of the cost. But still, $50 is a lot for a little bottle of liquid! And now I have to wear my glasses for at least a month. :-{ It took me a few days to adjust to the change. The glasses I have are the same pair from high school so the prescription is a little off and they're slightly out of style. Too bad I don't have the money to buy some new stylish ones. But oh well, I guess that's what I get for being negligent. And it's the first problem I've had in the 13 years I've worn contacts so that's impressive. :-)

P.S. It really didn't hurt too bad. Just felt like an eyelash was in my eye all the time and it was constantly watering. The watering part was a little embarrassing when I was trying to debrief with my principal about his observation. I was wiping my eye the whole time.

Cooper's Crawling!!!

It's official! Cooper finally started crawling Sunday afternoon at 8 1/2 months old. Now he's all over the place! :-) I love how he sometimes does a little two leg frog hop in-between crawls. It's so cute! Here's a video to enjoy...

A Day at the Park

Yesterday, we decided to take advantage of the warmer weather and take Cooper for a walk in the park. It was nice to finally get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air. Cooper loved it! I can't wait until this summer when I can take him to the park everyday! :-)

Here's Coop observing his world from within his stroller.
He liked watching all the other kids play.

He LOVED the swing! He talked, kicked and laughed the whole time.

Our adorable Cooper.

Having so much fun!

Looking up at mommy while walking along the track-so cute!

As it got later, his nose started to get cold and red...

and his cheeks. So...

We bundled him up! :-)

He looks so cozy!

Swinging with daddy.

Wee!

"Do it again!"
He liked to stare at the wood chips and he really wanted to touch them.

Going down the slide with daddy.
He wasn't quite sure what to think about the slides.

But he seemed to have liked it by the little smile on his face. :-)

Going down all by himself.

Having fan with daddy.

Swinging with mommy.
Shortly after this, he fell asleep all bundled up in his stroller.

Thanks Cooper for being such a fun little boy. We love you!!

P.S. The little red mark below his left eye is a scrap he got from falling over onto his toys.

I Can't Believe It

It's amazing how much Cooper has grown in 8 months...

Are you sure the Mickey didn't shrink? :-)

Happy Birthday To Me! :-)

I had my 23rd birthday yesterday. I took the day off work and enjoyed a few hours at the spa with my mom. We got 1 hour full body massages and pedicures then we enjoyed a lunch at Zupa's. Steve took me to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It was actually pretty good! After the movie, we went to Chilli's for dinner then headed to our house for cake, ice cream, and presents with family and friends. Cooper wouldn't go down until 10pm because he knew there was still a party going on. :-) It was a very eventful day but fun and I enjoyed being with the people I love. Thanks everyone! And much thanks to my aunt Susan for watching Cooper and my aunt Lara for subbing my class & having my students make me a birthday card so I could enjoy a relaxing day with my mom.

Blast From the Past-Our Courtship

So I've been looking through all of our pictures on our computer and I've decided that it'd be fun to post some flash backs on our blog since I didn't start it until we were married for almost a year. So here's a post about our courtship...

In October 2003 we met at Disneyland.
I was a junior in high school and Steve had just graduated.

That following summer he came to visit for a few days.
We cruised state street in my cousins convertible, we went swimming, went and saw "I Robot", went to Trafalga, and danced under the stars while listening to music from my 1985 black BMW.

Things I remember about his visit: Steve said our movie theaters didn't even compare to the movie theaters in Fresno. He was also amused by the Monday night family specials going on at Trafalga. :-) And I was completely shocked when he asked if he could kiss me while we were standing by my car. I had no idea he really felt that way about me. I was actually dating someone else at the time so I told him no. But as we danced and talked for another half hour I changed my mind and it ended up just being a few peaks. So I don't consider that our first kiss. :-) After that night, I was completely head over hills for him.

One month later he left for his mission to rainy Venezuela.

He came to the Provo MTC and every Friday I'd rush home from school so I could put together a package of warm cookies, cinnamon rolls, or whatever else so I could rush it to Post Mart for their same day MTC delivery. I remember sending him a Halloween package with decorations, Halloween candy, and those goofy nose and mustache glasses. Boy, was I cheesy! :-)

Around the time he was supposed to leave the MTC I was anxiously waiting to hear from him to see how he was doing. I expected a letter, instead, I got a pass along card on the windshield of my car with a note that said, "Jessica-Hey just stopped by. I guess we missed u. Hopefully we can come by some other time. -E. Scholle-" with his phone number on the bottom. I was so confused...

Come to find out, his visa hadn't come yet so he got assigned to the Springville/Provo mission for the few months he waited. During that time, he ate dinner at my house two or three times and my mom and I coiffured him and his companion around to a few places. I even got to see him at his apartment the night before he left for Venezuela. Crazy huh? I'll have to post a picture of it once I find it. I remember the one thing that drove me insane during his visits was the fact that he wouldn't look me in the eyes. (It's now obvious why he didn't. :-) )

We wrote to each other his whole mission. Although, the time between letters gradually increased. They went from weekly to every few months. Then in October 2006 he came home to Orem. That's when the real dating began...

He brought back this chalk art piece done by a vendor in Chile from a senior picture he had of me.

Our first 'date' was going to a conference session with his family the weekend after he got home.
The date was concluded by a delicious BBQ.

The following weekend I convinced him to go on a family trip with me to do this...
He had a blast!

It was the first time we snuggled and held hands. :-)

We even got pretty cozy while riding.

When it was my turn to drive, I loved going through the mud puddles!

Sometime around the end of October we had our first kiss. It all started from playing a game called per-diddle. Whenever we'd be driving around and see someone's headlight out you'd have to say, "per-diddle". Whoever said it last would owe the other person a kiss. Well, we always played but Steve just kept a tally of all his points instead of asking for his kiss right then. As you can imagine, Steve was much better at this game then I was so his tally was much higher then mine. Well, one night when he was dropping me off at home I asked him if he wanted to use his per-diddles yet. He said no. Then a few hours later he texted me and said he wants to use them now. So the next night I was dropping him off at his house and we were standing on his front porch giving a long hug goodbye and we both wanted to kiss each other so bad. But Steve wouldn't go in for it first, he wanted me to. So we were hugging and he pressed his lips against my cheek and we talked that way for a few minutes which really seemed like an hour. My heart was racing and finally I just went in for the kiss. It was amazing! It was a long slow and powerful first kiss. I loved it! We were both grinning ear to ear after and on my way home I texted my mom and said, "Dang, he's a good kisser." :-) Oh, how fun it would be to have all those gitty first time emotions again! It's a bummer they only happen once.

This was taken right before our weekly Sunday walk in Nielson's Grove Park. I remember having snowball fights with him and he always won because he had the overall snow pants and I didn't. It wasn't fair! :-)

Our Sunday walks would start out by holding hands as we walked around the park. Then we'd sit on a bench and talk for hours. We talked about life, the Gospel, our future, each other, interests, ideas, school, family, all sorts of things. We would also dance under the stars. I LOVED our nights in the park! We need to start doing it again!

By this point in time we were seriously considering marriage and had gone ring shopping a few times. He actually told me later that he REALLY wanted to propose to me on Christmas Eve but decided to wait until our New Years Eve trip to Disneyland. I'm so glad he waited!
