We finally made it to Minneapolis. Yeah! Our original plan was to drive out as soon as we got home from Disneyland this past Sunday around 2 pm. But....of course Steve & I have problems with airlines 100% of the time we fly together. (I'll have to write about our honeymoon airline experience later)
Our plane was scheduled to leave LA at 6 am. We had to wake up at 3 am to catch the shuttle from our hotel in Anaheim to the airport. After checking in at the airport we waited at the gate for an hour before it was time to start boarding the plane. Everyone's on the plane at 6 am ready to take off.... The plane didn't take off until 8 am-we sat on the plane for two hours while we waited for the generator to be fixed. So naturally, since our plane took off two hours late we missed our connecting flight from Phoenix to Memphis. Our flight to Memphis was supposed to take off at noon-we didn't arrive in Phoenix until 12:30. (barely missed it) There were only two more flights that day heading to Memphis. One at 2:30 and one at 4:00. We were on standby for the 2:30 flight and had seats on the 4:00 flight. While we waited for the 2:30 flight they ended up switching gates twice. The 2:30 plane arrived and there were maintenance problems with it as well and they expected a two hour delay. Luckily, it wasn't a two hour delay-just a half hour delay because a plan that just arrived from Mexico took the original planes place.
To make a long story shorter- I got on the 2:30 flight that didn't leave until 3:00 and Steve got on the 4:00 flight. We finally arrived in Memphis by 6:00, decided it was too late to start heading out for Minneapolis, so we stayed the night in Memphis and left for a long 16 hour drive Monday morning at 7:30 am.
On the drive to Minneapolis we had to avoid Iowa because all the main freeways were flooded. So that added a few more hours and a massive speeding ticket to our drive. But we finally arrived at our new Minneapolis apartment around 11:30 pm Monday. Wahoo!!!
